The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is expanding its drug and alcohol testing regulations to include Maintenance of Way (MOW) employees. Effective June 12th, 2017, railroad employees and contractors who perform maintenance of way (MOW) functions for a railroad will be subject to testing under the FRA guidelines.
WorkforceQA recently hosted a webinar to address the expanded guidelines and the impact on MOW employees and contractors.
Topics covered on the webinar include:
- A summary of Part 219 regulations
- Exemptions for small railroads
- Types of required testing, including random and post-accident testing requirements
- Elements that must be included in an MOW contractor’s compliance plan, including statements about the use of prescription and OTC medications
